Sixty thousand Belgorod residents evacuated as a result of shelling and RDC offensive

Three people were injured in the nighttime shelling of the Belgorod region, two of them are in hospital, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram at 6:34 on June 9.

According to Gladkov, the anti-aircraft defense system (AAD) went off over Belgorod at night. As a result, an apartment building and private structures in the village of Razumnoye were damaged. In addition, Shebekino, a town of 40,000 people, came under fire, where “there was damage to the housing stock” as a result of the incident.

The local authorities are unable to carry out an inspection because of the shelling and occupation of the city’s suburbs by the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), which was formed on the territory of Ukraine.

Sixty thousand people have already been evacuated from Shebekino and other border settlements, the United Russia party website reported. More than 8 thousand of them are in temporary accommodation centers and children have been evacuated to Kaluga and Voronezh Regions. There are 1.5 million people living in Belgorod Region.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC) stated that they have full control over Novaya Tavolzhanka, a suburb of Shebekino. On June 4, fighters of the Russian Volunteer Corps entered the territory of the region.

It should be noted that Vladimir Putin does not publicly react to the situation in Belgorod and other border regions.
