“Radio Liberty” stopped broadcasting in Russian after 70 years of work

The Russian service of Radio Liberty has announced the suspension of broadcasting in the medium-wave band on the frequency 1386 kHz, starting from April 15. The official website of the project does not specify the period for which the broadcasting is suspended. The legal entity of the Russian Service is Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), which was funded by the U.S. Congress through a grant from the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM).

“Radio Liberty has been in operation since 1950. The Russian service began broadcasting in Eastern and Southeastern Europe on March 1, 1953. Broadcasts on medium wave in Russian are aired in the evening and night hours by partner radio stations. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty is headquartered in Prague.
