Two people were killed and 14 others injured after Russian drone strikes hit residential buildings in central Odesa overnight on April 24, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) reported.
The victims were a married couple, both 75 years old, who lived in a two-story house struck by a drone.
Another drone hit a three-story residential building, where six people were injured. Regional military administration head Oleh Kiper said that apartments on the top two floors were destroyed.
In other two-story residential buildings, seven people were injured; one person was rescued from under the rubble, and 20 residents — including two children — were evacuated. According to rescuers, 50 people, including three children, were in a state of severe stress and received psychological assistance.
Oleh Kiper also reported that one of the drones struck a merchant vessel heading to the port of Odesa under the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis. “A fire broke out on board, which the crew quickly extinguished. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties,” he wrote on Telegram.
It was also reported that two women were injured during a Russian drone attack on the Mykolaiv region.
Ukraine’s Air Force stated that overnight Russian forces attacked the country with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 107 drones; 96 drones were reportedly shot down. The Russian military has not commented on the strikes, and there is no independent confirmation.
