Because of sanctions, Russia has postponed the International Aviation and Space Salon

The International Aviation and Space Salon (IAKS) near Moscow will not take place in 2023, but it is planned to be held in 2024 and 2025, the organizer said June 29.

The report noted: “The venue of the largest events in the aerospace industry of the Eurasian space remains unchanged – the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow region”.

XVI International Aviation and Space Salon IAKS-2023 was supposed to be held from 25 to July 30, 2023. RBC noted that, as a rule, it is held every two years at the airfield named after Gromov. The exhibition was first held in 1993, since then IAKS usually lasts six days, of which the last three days the entrance to the air show is open to all.

MAKS is the largest air show in Eastern Europe and one of the largest public events held in Russia.

Also IAKS is an air show that hundreds of thousands of spectators come to see. Russian and foreign aerobatic teams regularly perform at the air show, prototype airplanes are flown. The last time IAKS was held in July 2021. During six days, agreements totaling 265 billion rubles were signed.

“Vedomosti” cited an explanation from a source close to the Russian government that the factors behind the postponement of IAKS were international sanctions against the Russian aircraft industry,

Therefore, participation of foreign companies will be limited and the started import substitution projects will not be completed. The interlocutor of the newspaper also mentioned the issue of IAKS security, but according to him, it is not the main reason for the postponement.
