Zelensky: Chisinau did not ask Ukraine to send troops to Transnistria

Actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Transnistria are possible only at the request of Chisinau, so far there has been no such request, said President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference after the summit of the European political community.

“Ukraine can react and help only if there is a request from the Moldovan authorities”, – Zelensky said.

“They [Transnistria] must unite with their state, with their history – with Moldova”, – the president stressed, recalling how he drove through Transnistria and was surprised to see Russian flags there, but not Moldovan. He was quoted by Ukrainska Pravda.

Earlier, at the summit, the Ukrainian president expressed confidence that the problem of unrecognized Transnistria and unification of Moldova would be solved after Ukraine wins the war against Russian aggression.

“We all need a united Moldovan society and a united country of Moldova. Of course, we would like to wish for peace and to do so without bombs, artillery, and no deaths on your territory. Of course, we will do our best and we always support you, and I am sure that this is not some fantasy”, – Zelensky said.

“I’m sure that after our victory – and I’m sure in our victory – you will also have a united country: without missiles and without Russia”, – Zelensky stressed.
