The perpetrators of the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack were sentenced to life imprisonment

The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced four direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall to life imprisonment, the Interfax news agency reports.

Nineteen defendants stood trial in the terrorism case. Four of them — Dalerjon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni, and Muhammadsobir Fayzov — were sentenced to life in prison. RBC уточняет that they will serve part of their sentences in prison and part in a maximum-security penal colony. The court also imposed a fine of 990,000 rubles on each of them.

Their 11 accomplices, who transported the weapons, were also sentenced to life imprisonment. TASS had previously reported that the prosecution was seeking life sentences for 15 defendants.

Another four defendants, who according to investigators provided the attackers with a car and an apartment, received prison terms ranging from 19 to 22 years.

The terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue took place on the evening of March 22, 2024, shortly before a concert by the band Piknik. Armed attackers stormed the building, opened fire, and set it on fire. More than 140 people were killed, and hundreds were injured.

The following day, on March 23, the FSB announced the detention of 11 suspects, including the four direct participants in the attack. They were brought to Moscow’s Basmanny Court bearing visible signs of torture. On the same day, Telegram channels circulated a video showing security forces cutting off one detainee’s ear and forcing him to eat it. The Russian authorities did not acknowledge that torture had taken place.

The Investigative Committee reported the completion of the investigation in June of last year. More than 2,300 people were officially recognized as victims in the case.
