A fire broke out at an oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Russia’s Krasnodar Region following a drone attack.
The regional operational штаб said that drone debris “fell” onto the refinery’s territory, causing a fire involving technological equipment and a pipeline over an area of about 100 square meters. The fire was later extinguished. Ukrainian Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ published photos and videos of what they claim is the fire at the refinery.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of December 17, air defense systems shot down 94 Ukrainian drones over six regions, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black seas. According to the ministry, 31 Ukrainian drones were downed over Krasnodar Region alone. The regional operational headquarters reported that two people were injured. In the Slavyansky district, drones damaged two high-voltage power lines, leaving 12,700 people without electricity.
Deputy Governor Alexander Rudenko said that operations at 21 kindergartens and three schools have been suspended due to disruptions in water, electricity, and heating supplies. Five schools are operating on a staggered schedule.
Russian oil refineries have regularly become targets of Ukrainian drone attacks.
