During the night of October 22, Russian forces launched drone and missile attacks against Ukraine.
In Kyiv, two people were killed as a result of the strikes. Another 29 were injured, including five children. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), impacts were recorded on three multi-story residential buildings in different districts of the capital. A car and a non-residential building also caught fire.
In the Kyiv region, four people, including two children, were killed due to shelling. Regional governor Mykola Kalashnyk reported that in the village of Poreby, a woman born in 1987, a six-month-old baby, and a 12-year-old girlwere found dead in the remains of a private house destroyed by fire. In the Brovary district, a man born in 1987 died from fatal injuries.
According to the SES, rescuers continue search operations and debris removal. During the attack, an 83-year-old woman was injured and rescued from a burning house in Brovary.
In Zaporizhzhia, 13 people, including two children, sought medical assistance after the night attack. Fifteen apartment buildings, private houses, and non-residential facilities in various parts of the city were damaged.
Energy infrastructure facilities were also hit during the attack. Emergency power outages were introduced in many regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and Dnipro.
“Another night proving that Russia is not under enough pressure to end the war. Throughout the night and morning, our air defense forces, mobile fire groups, and drone interceptor crews were working. Civilian cities were under attack — primarily our energy infrastructure, but there were also many strikes on residential buildings,”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.
On Wednesday morning, a drone attacked a private kindergarten in Kharkiv, where children and staff were present at the time. According to the prosecutor’s office, they managed to reach a shelter in time, and no casualties were reported among them.
Nearby residential houses and other civilian infrastructure were damaged. According to the latest data, one person was killed and nine were injured in the attack.
“A 42-year-old man, an employee of a municipal enterprise, was killed. Nine others — three men and six women — sustained injuries,”
the prosecutor’s office said.
“There is no and cannot be any justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten. It is clear that Russia is becoming increasingly brazen. These strikes are Russia’s slap in the face to everyone who calls for a peaceful solution,”
Zelenskyy wrote.
