Kallas: 26 EU Countries Agreed to Join Tribunal Against Russia

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas announced that 26 European Union member states have confirmed their readiness to participate in the creation of a special tribunal regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Today, 26 member states have committed to becoming participants in this tribunal,” Kallas said. According to her, Brussels is now awaiting a cost estimate, including from the Netherlands, after which work on the project will continue.

The idea to establish the tribunal was first proposed by Ursula von der Leyen in 2022. The structure is expected to be formed under the framework of the Council of Europe, which Russia left the same year.
