Gas Processing Plant Catches Fire in Volgograd Region After Drone Attack

A gas processing plant in the city of Kotovo, Volgograd region, caught fire following an attack by Ukrainian drones. The blaze was visible on satellite imagery. Local authorities reported “fires on the territory of fuel and energy infrastructure facilities.”

The full extent of the damage remains unknown at the time of publication, and no casualties have been reported. The Korobkovsky Gas Processing Plant is the largest facility for natural gas processing in Russia’s Southern Federal District. It produces gasoline, liquefied gas, and feedstock for various industrial sectors.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced in the morning that 19 Ukrainian drones had been intercepted over several regions, with 10 of them shot down over the Volgograd region. The total number of drones launched and those that passed through air defenses was not specified. Authorities temporarily restricted operations at the airports of Volgograd, Saratov, and Samara.
