In Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, drones attacked the Afipsky oil refinery

On the night of September 26, a fire broke out at the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai as a result of a drone attack. According to an official statement by the regional Operational Headquarters, “fragments of a drone fell on one of the units,” which caused the fire. The blaze has since been extinguished, and no casualties were reported.

Drones also attacked Rostov Oblast, including the city of Rostov-on-Don, according to social media reports and official statements.

“In Rostov, the facade and windows of a store on Dovatora Street, as well as several cars in a parking lot, sustained damage,” wrote Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar.

In total, 55 drones were shot down overnight over the Sea of Azov, annexed Crimea, and several other Russian regions, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported.

The Afipsky Oil Refinery is a major facility that belongs to the Safmar Group. Its designed annual capacity is 6.25 million tons of oil. The plant has been targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks on multiple occasions in the past.

Ukrainian drones strike Russian regions almost daily. Facilities of the oil industry, including those located hundreds of kilometers from the frontline, are often targeted. These attacks have led to fuel shortages in a number of regions.
