Preparations are underway in Ukraine and Hungary for a meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Viktor Orban. According to Reuters, citing the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, the meeting should take place in the near future.
Earlier in December, all EU countries except Hungary agreed to start talks with Ukraine on its accession to the EU. The EU heads of state were able to bypass Orban’s negative stance. The Hungarian prime minister left the meeting room when the decision was made.
However, Orban’s resistance could not be overcome when the issue of revising the EU budget and sending 50 billion euros to Kiev was discussed. Orban would like the funding to come to Kyiv from outside the EU budget.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the countries need to organize a constructive meeting to discuss the existing problems. Later Orban confirmed that he accepted the invitation to the meeting.
