Poland puts all forces on alert after unidentified object arrives

Poland’s army command has put all available means and forces on alert after an airspace violation by an “unidentified object” from Ukraine, the press service of the army’s operational command said.

“In the morning, an unidentified aerial object entered Polish airspace from the side of the border with Ukraine and was observed by the country’s air defense radars from the moment it crossed the border until the signal disappeared. <…> The operational commander of the Armed Forces mobilized the forces and means at his disposal”, the report said.

Amid reports of an “unidentified object”, Polish President Andrzej Duda called an urgent meeting of the National Security Bureau, Polish radio station RMF24 reported.

According to the radio station, the object was moving at high speed and was first noticed by residents of the Lublin voivodeship, which borders Lviv region of Ukraine. RMF FM writes that it is not far from the Przewodów district, where a missile from Ukraine also flew in November 2022. According to eyewitnesses, a strong noise and whistling was heard, while there was no information that there was an explosion, the radio station claims. The search for the object continues.

The appearance of the flying object from the Ukrainian border coincided with a massive attack by Russian armed forces on Ukraine on Friday. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Lviv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhya were shelled. An air alert was declared throughout the country. It is known about more than 20 dead and hundreds of wounded.
