Putin will not go to BRICS summit in South Africa

Vladimir Putin will not go to the BRICS summit in South Africa. Russia will be represented at the summit by Sergey Lavrov. This is reported by RIA “Novosti”.

If Putin would come to South Africa, the country’s authorities would have to detain him for transfer to The Hague.

South Africa is among the countries that have ratified the Rome Statute governing the International Criminal Court. This spring, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin on suspicion of “illegal deportation and transfer of children from the occupied regions of Ukraine to the Russian Federation”.
