CEC decides to hold “elections” in occupied territories on September 10

The Russian Central Election Commission has deemed it possible to hold “elections” in the occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions on September 10, according to the commission’s Telegram channel.

It is planned that they will “elect” members of the regional parliaments and municipal deputies.

The law adopted in May allows the elections to be held even in the territories where martial law is imposed, if it is deemed safe following consultations. According to the amendments, the CEC could only order “elections” after consultation with the Defense Ministry and the FSS/FSB.
