Romania will cut the number of Russian embassy staff by more than half

Bucharest demanded from Moscow to reduce the staff of the Embassy in Romania by 40 people. The number of diplomats and technical staff of the Russian representative office should be equal to the number of employees of the Romanian Embassy in Russia. This was reported by the Romanian Foreign Ministry.

In total, Russia was to reduce more than 50 people, but since not all positions are occupied, 11 diplomats and 29 employees of the technical and administrative staff will leave Romania. That is more than half of the staff. The termination of work is given 30 days.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry also noted that the decision to cut the staff of the diplomatic mission reflects the current level of relations between the two countries after Moscow unleashed a war of aggression against Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry promised to respond accordingly.
