“We fought too” – Georgian premier considers the EU refusal to give his country the status of candidate for membership a mistake

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said it would be a big mistake on the part of the EU not to give the republic candidate status to the union.
“I think it was unfair, it was really an unjustified, inappropriate step. For example, what is the message for Russia? That is, we Europeans leave Georgia, which is two or three times better than Ukraine and Moldova. If we talk about the merits, they should have been awarded to Georgia on the basis of the work passed”, – the prime minister said in Bratislava at the Globsec security conference.
According to Garibashvili, the EU has not provided Georgia with any arguments or explanations of the reasons for its refusal. “We were only told that Ukraine was at war. We were at war in 2008 too, 20% are still occupied, so where is the difference? If Georgia does not get this status by the end of the year, it will be a very big mistake”, – Garibashvili said.
