Convicted for Lukashenko cartoon died in prison

Belarusian blogger Nikolai Klimovich, convicted of caricature of Alexander Lukashenko, died in Vitsebsk colony #3, reported the Belarusian service of Radio Liberty. The reasons for his death are not yet known, human rights activists are trying to figure them out.
In February Klimovich was sentenced to one year of imprisonment and found guilty under the article of public insult of the President of the Republic of Belarus. The judge sentenced the 61-year old man to a real term in spite of his second disability group because of a heart disease.
Klimovich repeatedly fell ill with heart disease while in custody. He was detained in December 2022. He himself told journalists that the real reason for the persecution was his “very tough” pro-Ukrainian and anti-war stance.
