More than 20 Russian cities canceled parades in honor of Victory Day

In Russia, Victory Day parades in 2023 were canceled in at least 21 cities where they were held the year before. These are the conclusions reached by the publication Verstka.
Kaluga, Ryazan, Orel, Saratov, Lipetsk, Elets, and Tyumen refused parades “for safety reasons”.
Pskov and Velikie Luki justified the cancellation by their concern for the “participants of the SSO” who were coming for rehabilitation. Mikhail Vedernikov, the region’s mayor, said that they “perceive the sounds of fireworks in a completely different way. In Kursk it was decided not to hold the parade, “given the current situation”, while in Belgorod it was decided “not to provoke the enemy with a large accumulation of equipment and soldiers” in the city center.
They did not explain the decision in Bryansk, Krasnodar, and Sochi, simply presenting residents with the fact that there will be no parades in 2023.
