Kazakhstan opened 10 criminal cases because of the participation of its citizens in the war in Ukraine

The National Security Committee of Kazakhstan is investigating 10 criminal cases in connection with the participation of citizens of the country in the war in Ukraine. This is reported by KazTAG, citing the press service of the agency.
The NSC did not provide any other details, including details of the individuals involved in the cases. It is also not reported whose side Kazakhstani citizens fought on.
“Radio Azattyk” earlier wrote about Zhasulan Duysembin, a native of Arkalyk, who fought in the AFU. Zhasulan lived in Ukraine before the Russian invasion, and his wife is Ukrainian. The Kazakhstani man said that he “went to war to protect his family”.
The publication also knows the names of several Kazakhs who fought on the side of Russia in the ranks of the Wagner PMC. They died in the war; they were buried in their homeland.
The Criminal Code of Kazakhstan stipulates criminal responsibility for participation in foreign armed conflicts in the form of imprisonment for 5 to 9 years.
