Russian journalist named persona non grata in Poland

A Russian man, who worked as a reporter for Russian television, has been banned from entering Poland. According to the Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW), the “journalist” collected materials for the purposes of Russian disinformation activities against Poland.

Stanisław Żaryn, the spokesman of the minister-coordinator for the special services, said in an interview with the tvp.info portal that, on the request of the head of the SKW, the Office for Foreigners added a citizen of the Russian Federation, Yevgeny Reshetnev, on the list of persona non grata in Poland.

According to the findings of the Polish services, the man, introducing himself as a reporter on Russian television, was engaged in activities that went beyond the work of a journalist.

“The materials collected in this case by the SKW show that the above-mentioned person collected information used for Russian activities against Poland, including activities of a disinformation nature. Reshetnev’s activity threatened the interests of the Republic of Poland, as well as the allied forces stationed in Poland,” Żaryn said.

The man was banned from entering Poland for 5 years and banned from entering the Schengen area for 3 years.

“Russian journalists working in Poland are a group used for activities carried out by the Russian Federation against Poland, NATO countries and the West. Poland is one of the main targets of Russia’s information warfare,” the spokesman summed up.
