The Free Russia Forum firmly rejects Donald Trump’s so-called “peace plan” for Ukraine. This document is not a plan but an ultimatum that forces the Ukrainian leadership to choose between accepting terms that benefit only Russia or continuing the war under conditions of reduced external support.
The implementation of this plan would not end the war but legitimize Russian aggression. Blocking Ukraine’s path to NATO, reducing its armed forces, imposing territorial concessions, and creating “security guarantees” that offer no real protection turn this initiative into a tool of pressure on the victim of the war. Such a framework does not eliminate threats— it entrenches them. It transforms temporary occupation into a political norm and creates a dangerous precedent for the whole of Europe. When an aggressor state is rewarded for the use of force, new invasions become only a matter of time.
The plan ignores a fundamental principle: peace is possible only when justice is restored, not when the victim is coerced into accepting terms dictated by the aggressor. Any solution that does not include the full withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukrainian territory and the restoration of sovereignty within internationally recognized borders will mean not the end of the war, but its freezing to the Kremlin’s advantage. Such a “compromise” does not prevent a new wave of violence — it merely creates the conditions for it.
We are convinced that lasting peace in Europe is impossible without Ukraine’s victory and the defeat of Russia’s policy of aggression. Attempts to impose capitulation on Ukraine under the guise of a “peace plan” threaten not only Kyiv but the entire international security system.
The Free Russia Forum expresses its full and resolute support for the Ukrainian leadership and calls on European partners and the international community to firmly reject any initiatives that replace a just peace with a political transaction in favor of the aggressor.
The only basis for a peace settlement can be the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the guarantee of its right to choose its own path.
