Appeal by the Free Russia Forum to the Authorities of the Swiss Confederation and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)
It has become known that representatives of the Putin regime will once again participate in the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva. Among them are Konstantin Kosachev, Pyotr Tolstoy, Leonid Slutsky, Alexey Chepa, and other prominent functionaries of the Kremlin dictatorship.
Every one of these individuals leaves behind a bloody trail of war crimes, lies, and repression. Every one of them is an accomplice to Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, a perpetrator of civilian killings, and a co-conspirator in the destruction of the freedom remaining within Russia. These people belong not in the halls of international parliamentary forums, but on the defendants’ bench.
The situation is particularly cynical in that the Kremlin’s henchmen will be participating in a conference dedicated to humanitarian norms and human rights. Those responsible for war, torture, political assassinations, and the construction of a totalitarian regime in Russia now intend to speak from a European rostrum about the “protection of human rights.” This is a mockery of the very concept.
The presence of Russian butchers at the podium of the Inter-Parliamentary Union cannot be justified by any diplomatic considerations. With Putin’s Russia, diplomacy is impossible — this has been proven repeatedly. This regime understands only the language of force, sanctions, and total isolation.
War criminals and accomplices of aggression must be completely excluded from the international community. Their presence on the territory of civilized European nations is an outrage to those who are sacrificing their lives today in the struggle for freedom.
The Free Russia Forum strongly condemns the possible participation of representatives of the Putin regime in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and calls on the authorities of Switzerland to deny entry to these individuals — murderers, propagandists, and accomplices to crimes against humanity.
